DSC Power Solutions represents a manufacturer that designs and manufactures Space Power Power Converters for low earth orbit (LEO) and high earth orbit (HEO) space applications. Modular Devices builds Rad Hard Power Converters designed to withstand the radiation effects of space flight.
These Rad hard qualified power converters are available in standard modules. These are offered in two grades: Class K and Class H power converter levels. To meet the extreme temperature and environmental conditions required by space flight vehicles, dc to dc converters must incorporate H class components or K class components for non-repairable deployment under MIL-PRE-STD 38534.
RAD hard converters must go through a rigorous selection and qualification process to qualify for space use. Power converters must survive high levels of irradiation (total ionizing dose) from proton, neutron and gamma sources. Under the most critical scenarios, radiation hardened converters must survive nuclear events, referred to as SEE or SEU which require shielding from electromagnetic pulse. Standard KRAD Power supplies are available in single, dual and triple output modules.
There are standard units with power up to 300 watts and multi-module assemblies for kilowatts of power. Off the shelf (build to order) units are available in single, dual and triple output modules.
